Whanau Engagement...DOJO style!

So...this term as a Jnr Syndicate we have rolled out Class DOJO across all 5 classes and the response we (Room 2) have received is phenomenal!!!  Out of the 20 families / whanau represented in our classroom we have had 12 parents/caregivers sign up to date; 60%!

They have all been active on the application either by "liking" the whole-school stories from the x10 contributing teachers, Room 2 class stories or their child's individual story and every whanau represented has messaged either myself or my co-teacher most days.

As I reflect as to why this format is working, I wonder if it is because it can be done without the "threat" of being at or on school premises, or having to have a face to face meeting...

What then does this say about the traumas / preconceived ideas that are held by the whanau's we  teach of tomorrow and therefore the future of the education system in its present form?

  1. Hi Heather
Definitely Classdojo is doing wonders in Room 3 as well. Till to date 50% of the parents have signed up and they are actively commenting on the stories that I am sharing with them. I could feel I am connected with the parents more through class dojo. Probably parents are finding this much easier as all of us can agree that we carry our mobile phones with us everytime!
